About

I am a Classically trained homeopath and I have been practicing for the past 12 years.  I started this blog to begin to build a base to provide patients and curious homeopathy students with some information about remedies from a clinical perspective.  I try to add in information whenever I can – homeopathy students are welcome to comment with cases or information they would like to share.

    A Case of Cocculus

First birth: 29 years old. Reaches full dilation. pushes for 2 hours with no descent, proceeds to a cesarean section. Probably cause is POP = persistent occipital posterior. Baby is sunny side up, head circumference is greater than an occiptal anterior presentation. Doesn’t budge in second stage.

Second birth: A planned VBAC. She reaches her goal, how great is that! With a little bit of help. VAVD = vaginally assisted vacuum delivery, with an episiotomy which extends into a 3rd degree tear. 3rd degree tear = a disruption of the integrity of the lining of the anal sphincter.

Fast forward to a day 3 visit from her midwife and homeopath.

“I have had an awful 24 hours. I have had to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes. I am passing little bits of soft stool. I am having involuntary spasms in my rectum. I have been soiling myself in my attempt to reach the bathroom in time. I have to rinse in the shower often. My milk came in yesterday and I have been in bed mostly, establishing breastfeeding.
How long will this go on? Will I need reconstructive surgery? What can I do?”

“I can offer you homeopathy as this is the only thing I think will help you”

    Offer accepted:

It is better when I lie down, worse when I stand and there is a lot of discomfort when sitting on the toilet. I have no control, I am running to the toilet. I am so afraid, it is impacting my desire to void, because I am concentrating on trying to control my bowels.”

Prescribed 2 pellets of Cocculs 200 Ch.

Follow-up telephone call the next day:

“Thirty minutes after taking the Cocculs I had the urge to get to the toilet. I had a large soft healthy bowel movement. About 10 minutes later, another healthy bowel movement and within the hour a third. I have had 2 occasions since that of an urge or spasm with a small amount of stool passes. Other than that, for instance the last 6 hours I have been free to move about without a problem. Do you think it was the homeopathy?!!!

That is an awesome case Heather, isn’t it SO satisfying to have some real tools to assist your clients all the way through their process?? Great – the fascinating thing about homeopathy is that people feel so normal after a remedy it is like they don’t even remember feeling or experiencing their previous state.
